Trump’s Base Is Turning Against Another Middle East War

Inside MAGA’s Revolt Against the Israel Lobby

There is now an open split inside the MAGA movement over Israel. Steve Bannon and Tucker Carlson are both opposing deeper U.S. involvement in Israel’s war with Iran. Bannon says the U.S. must stop following Israeli interests at the expense of its own. Carlson is naming the individuals he says are trying to drag the U.S. into another Middle East war. Both are directly challenging some of the most powerful donors, media figures, and influence networks tied to Trump.

Bannon still calls himself a supporter of Israel. But his argument is that Israel’s war is not America’s war, and that U.S. support for it violates the basic idea of America First. He says the U.S. is already a combatant, providing air defense to Israel. He says this support is happening without debate, and that it has nothing to do with protecting Americans. He accuses both parties, and the media, of lying about foreign policy to keep the country locked into endless war. In his words, it’s not incompetence, it’s bald-faced lies.

Bannon says the same people who pushed the Iraq War are doing it again. He connects the 2003 invasion, the 2008 financial collapse, and the rise of MAGA. Whether that timeline is accurate or not, the goal is clear: to claim the MAGA movement was born as a rejection of neocon wars, especially those fought on Israel’s behalf.

Tucker Carlson is going further. He is naming Trump allies, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Rupert Murdoch, Ike Perlmutter, and Miriam Adelson, as responsible for pressuring Trump into military action. Three of the five are Jewish. All five are outspoken Zionists. Carlson says these people are putting Israel’s interests first and pushing the U.S. toward another war. He says they should be held accountable for what follows.

Trump is caught in the middle. In 2016, he ran against the wars. He promised to pull back from the Middle East. But the attack on Iran happened with American support. And now Trump is making direct threats against Tehran. Carlson and Bannon are warning that this is a break with the promises that got Trump elected.

Marjorie Taylor Greene is backing that position. She says more war is not what voters wanted. She says it is not antisemitic to oppose another foreign conflict. She says the country is collapsing under debt and internal problems and that Americans should not be forced to pay for another war driven by outside interests.

The old taboo against criticizing the Israel lobby is breaking down. Not just on the left, but inside MAGA. Carlson has made the divide plain, warmongers versus those who want to avoid another conflict. Bannon is framing it as a test of whether MAGA still stands for America First. Greene is saying voters did not elect Trump to fight Israel’s wars.

The noise is getting louder on this, certainly this is no longer about fringe voices. People like Tucket and Bannon are central MAGA figures. The people they are naming are not minor players either. These are media power brokers and donors who helped build Trump’s political machine. If Trump ignores the warnings and escalates the war, he risks breaking the coalition that brought him back to the top. If he refuses, he risks losing the support of the lobby and the donors who have backed him.

Either way, the split is out in the open now and there is no way to put it back. For Israel, it signals something bigger, but may not stop the war. The old guarantee of full U.S. support is no longer certain as the political cost is starting to rise. And the people raising it are from Trump’s base, straight from MAGA itself.
