These Psychopaths !
We live in a time where those with the most money often have the least understanding of what truly matters. We allow them to build vast fortunes, to accumulate wealth beyond imagination, and then we act surprised when they use that wealth to control the very systems that shape our lives. They do not simply rest with their riches; they begin to speak as if they know better than the rest of us. They lecture us, they demand obedience, and they impose upon us their narrow view of what is good and what is right. All the while, they remain untouched by the rules they create.
Now, they have turned their attention to coffee. Yes, coffee. A Swiss banker, Hubert Keller, speaking at the World Economic Forum, declared that coffee production releases between fifteen and twenty tonnes of carbon dioxide per tonne of coffee. He warned that every cup we drink adds to the problem. And with that, the suggestion is made, quietly, but with growing confidence, that we must give up even the smallest comforts in the name of climate responsibility.
But who really benefits from this? They ask us to make sacrifices while they continue to fly private, expand empires, and produce waste on a scale far beyond the reach of ordinary people. They lecture us about the carbon in our coffee while their investments fuel industries far more destructive.
We must ask ourselves, why do we continue to hand power to those who misuse it, these psychopaths ? Why do we allow them to dictate the terms of our lives when they themselves refuse to live by the standards they set? Honestly, the problem is not the coffee, right ? The problem is who gets to speak and who gets to decide what we give up. These psychopaths !
